Why We Chose These Songs for the PLAYLIST
Uptown Funk:
Have you ever tried to sit down while listening to this song? It’s nearly impossible! The kids have loved this catchy song from the beginning; my 3-year-old toddler even requests this song by himself on our Alexa.
Surfin Bird:
My husband and I open up the couch throw blanket and everyone holds onto it. We put one of the kids’ stuffed animals in the middle while we all shake the blanket to this song.
Gummy Bear:
Who doesn’t like gummy bears? Or dancing to a song about gummy bears? No one in our house for sure! This little ditty has a great beat for your little ones to bounce up and down to.
Peanut Butter Jelly Time:
Some of the lyrics to this song are strange: “Peanut Butter Jelly with a Baseball Bat” WHAT?! Haha! Nevertheless, it’s a great dance song. And the kids get a kick out of it when I crank this song in the kitchen and do a funky dance while making those sandwiches.
The Fox:
The funny noises in the song are why the kids like the song so much.
Don’t Stop Me Now:
This energizing classic starts slowly and then launches into a great energizing song, daring you to get up and do your best fancy footwork.
Billie Jean:
Another classic. The song to which the first “moonwalk” was performed by Michael Jackson, makes a great family dance party song that is popular among generations.
Gangnam Style:
This song that became super-popular thanks to its music video and dance moves still has this mom, dad, and kids imitating the moves.
Call on Me Radio Edit:
This upbeat rhythmic dance music that pretty much repeats the same few lines over and over is popular with kids because it’s easy to bounce or jump to this song.
Tequila:
I danced in our living room to this song with my son when he was only 3 months old. It’s stayed a favorite and we’ve continued dancing to it with him over the last 3 years. Sometimes he wants me to hold him and dance, swinging him around in the air. Other times we hold hands and dance on the floor or simply stand next to each other and wave our arms around in the air. I joke (only half kidding) that this is the song we’ll probably dance to at his wedding someday.
Now, go put on your dancing socks, grab your family, and go crank these tunes in your living room! Keep checking back as I continue to add to my [PLAYLISTS] section. Enjoy! And let me know if you have any family favorite songs I should add next time!
