Bake Gingerbread Cookies
I started making these gingerbread cookies a few years ago. I’ve never attempted making gingerbread cookies before having kids, because for some reason they seemed intimidating. I searched through recipes on the internet and found this one that I love. I even bookmarked it on my phone so I can always reference it. Making and decorating these cookies is so much fun for kids–allowing them to help roll dough and cut out/decorate the gingerbread shapes.
Here’s what you’ll need:
You prob have most ingredients already—less common ingredients for these cookies include: molasses, dark brown sugar, ginger, and ground cloves. The rest of the ingredients can be found here with the recipe.
Read ‘The Gingerbread Man’
This summer when we were at the beach, my mother in law told our son some classic bedtime stories like Goldilocks, Little Red Hen, and The Gingerbread Man. The Gingerbread Man became an instant favorite and he asked for the book. I think we read the Gingerbread Man book before naps and bedtime for a month straight without changing it up with any other stories.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- The Gingerbread Man book
- Comfy chair (we love reading to our kids on this!)

These activities can all be done in one day . Or you can space them out over the holiday season. You can also use these ideas for grouping these activities together too:
- Bake the cookies, then enjoy eating them while reading the book.
