Hi! Welcome to another episode of Tub Tales! Today’s episode will entertain you as you find out what happens with 1 Mom, 2 kids, and the spider that REALLY was. In case you missed my first episode, you can check this post out about 1 Mom, 2 kids, and the spider that NEVER was. It’s a good one—I encourage you to read it; and dare you not to laugh.
So another bath adventure continues . . .
The tale begins at lunchtime. Besides eating, my daughter makes huge messes when she eats, and often paints her hair with whatever is on the menu. So many meals with her end up with a trip to the tub. My son usually wants to play with whatever toy she is playing with (we are working on sharing) and at the same time wants to be doing whatever she is doing. “Can sister come too?” or “Can we wake sister up?” are some common requests, so naturally he often wants a bath when she gets one.

But today he decided to sit this one out. He came into the bathroom and helped me get her a washcloth and put her bath toys in the water.
So I have sister in the tub splashing around with her toys and I’m kneeling on the bathmat in front of the tub. I reach down to adjust where I’m kneeling when I spot it . . . a SPIDER!!!
AHHHHH! NOT AGAIN!
This spider was the same color and size as the last one, except he WAS moving. And he was moving along the tub almost at the bathmat. So I say to my son “Can you go grab Daddy’s shoe for me to get the spider?” He comes running back with his dad’s shoe so pleased with himself that he understood and followed directions.

Well, by now the spider has made its way across the floor and starts to gingerly reach its legs up the tub like he wants to climb up the side. Sorry spider, you aren’t joining this party! The thought of smooshing the spider in case he runs and gets away creeps me out. I hate when you go to squish one and it gets away and drops to the ground, darting away and you don’t know in which direction it went.
I had a good chance of getting him. Then I take a couple pokes and squish him on the side of the tub. Finally, to make sure he is gone for good, I peel him off the tub with the shoe and flush him down the toilet.
Just as this fiasco was taken care of, my son yells that he needs use the potty (daughter still splashing and playing). This is a lot of activity for this bathroom during lunchtime–or anytime for that matter. So I quickly lifted him onto the potty just in time. Then my daughter starts yelling.
I look into the tub and see why she was complaining: SHE was going potty IN THE TUB!! Yep the messier kind, if you get my drift. You HAVE to be kidding me. I scoop her up, get her toys out, and fish out all the mess while draining the tub.
I was hoping to get them in for naps soon after and relax . . . but after all this activity, I spent a good portion of their naptime cleaning the potty seat, bath toys and disinfecting the tub. Now mama needs a nap, too!
