5 Ways to Wear Your Flannel Shirt

Below, I’m showing you what you can wear with your flannel shirt as well as different ways to wear them.

1. Love it with Leggings

An easy way to wear your flannel shirt is to pair it with a comfy pair of leggings. My SPANX faux leather leggings are my favorite leggings to wear in the Fall and Winter. And while they also look great with anything, they pair perfectly with my plaid flannel. This look could be worn as seen below, or you could switch out the loafers with a pair of cute sneakers. You could also dress the look up a bit by adding some black OTK boots (these are the ones I wear), and add a belt around the waist for some definition.

2. Darling in Denim

Another great option for wearing your flannel shirt is to style it with your favorite pair of jeans. Denim looks great with a flannel shirt.

You can wear boots, booties, mules. loafers or even fashion sneakers with your flannel and denim.

3. Pair it with Boots

Almost any boot looks great with a flannel shirt. Tucking your shirt into a skirt and wearing with some OTK boots makes for a trendy, dressier look.

Booties look super cute with a flannel shirt too. You can wear with a skirt like I did below, or pair with jeans. Throw on a cardigan or puffer vest and your Fall look would be complete.

4. Wear With a Dress

I love pairing my flannel shirt with a T-shirt dress. This is a perfect outfit for transitioning into the Fall weather.

You can have the flannel tied around your waist, or wear open and untucked (or even knotted) if it gets chilly. Not only is this look cute, but it’s super comfy!

5. Layer It

Can you tuck in a flannel shirt? Absolutely! I tend to do that with jeans or a skirt for a dressier or more polished look. Most often they are worn casually untucked, although you can also just front tuck. Tank tops and tees are great for layering in this case.

I especially love this look for Fall when layering is often needed due to weather changes.

I like to pair my flannel with a tank when wearing comfy joggers for a casual look, or even tied around my waist with a tee.

If you wear your flannel over a long sleeve tee in the colder months, adding a jean jacket or puffer vest to top things off would be perfect too!

How do you style oversized flannel?

The best way to style oversized flannel is to wear as a layer like a shacket. These are a little more oversized and thicker than your regular shirts and look really cute styled over tank tops or tees and paired with leggings or jeans.

You can also wear flannel as a shirt dress. Wear as a dress paired with boots or booties, or if possible, wear unbuttoned over a tank and leggings as a longer oversized shirt.
