How to wear SPANX Faux Leather Leggings
In the video you can see how I styled a weeks worth of faux leather leggings outfits. I’ve listed even more examples below throughout the rest of the post!
SPANX Leggings Outfits
#1: denim jacket
Denim jackets look great with SPANX leggings. This makes the perfect casual outfit for running errands, attending sporting events or even travel.
#2: Button down shirt
A button down looks good with your faux leather leggings both untucked or tucked in.
I’m wearing a chambray shirt from Old Navy. Here is an updated version of that shirt.
I love this button down so much I also have it in a pretty blue stripe pattern too.
A button down is so versatile especially heading into the Fall and Winter Season. I like to wear a tank with a button down wrapped around my waist for when it’s chilly.
I love cardigan sweaters for Fall – they are perfect for layering especially with the changing temperatures throughout the day.
The leopard cardigan is a favorite of mine – wearing in size small. It also comes in other colors.
Barefoot dreams cardigan – more of a splurge cardigan but I wear it all the time. I liked so much I also got it in black. These are so soft and comfy and make great gifts for her. Wearing smallest size and it comes in other colors.
Camel colored cardigan – so soft and warm. I’m wearing in a small and I love pairing it with an all black outfit and combat boots.
Color block cardigan – wearing size small. This cardigan comes in other colors and is so soft and comfy; it also comes in other colors.
Pink pom pom cardigan – wearing smallest size. It comes in other colors and is available in kids sizing so you can match your minis. I got the child’s version of this for my daughter for Valentine’s Day.
#4: Flannel shirt
Flannel shirts perfectly pair with your leggings in those chilly months.
I love a cozy sweatshirt or pullover with my faux leather leggings! This gives a really casual/sporty vibe and looks great running errands, sporting events, etc.
The pink sweatshirt is tunic sweatshirt from a few years back at Old Navy.
Here is a similar sweatshirt and I just love this sweatshirt that I just got in from Target! It’s a pretty pink color – a little darker than the pink one pictured below (also has matching joggers). It’s so soft and cozy- a recent favorite find!
#6: T-shirt (long-sleeved or short)
Long sleeved tees, short sleeve tees, graphic tees all look great with your leggings. Wear them alone or layered under a sweater or jacket and you can dress up or down any look.
Striped tee – I have this in several colors; I also have in white and a blue color. I’m wearing size small; striped isn’t currently available but there’s several other options here.
Long sleeve waffle tee is from Aerie last year. Here is a similar one from there this year.
Wearing the Anine Bing graphic tee in XS. I could’ve also fit in the small for a more oversized fit.
The pink striped tee is from Target – no longer available (similar one here).
The long sleeve Free People tee is super popular and so comfy and loose fitting and pairs perfectly with faux leather leggings. I’m wearing the black one in XS and also have in another color. Here is a similar looking one from Amazon.
Blazers can really dress up your leggings outfit. They are chic and pull the outfit together nicely. This makes a great holiday look, date night or happy hour outfit.
I like wearing all black and then pairing it with a black or white/cream blazer. The black blazer I have is a double breasted blazer from Express. It’s not currently available but this is a great one from Amazon – I have it in the Ivory color. It’s oversized but I think still runs big. I’m normally a S or XS but I sized down to XXS.
Look stylish this Fall and Winter with a Jacket, Coat or Shacket paired with your leggings.
My sherpa jacket looks so cute with my faux leather leggings and combat boots for an edgy look. This is the updated version of the jacket. And this Vuori sherpa jacket is so pretty and looks just like the one I’m wearing in the picture below.
I have to say, wearing a sweater with my faux leather leggings, is my Fall uniform.
Pink sweater is one size; stretchy and cozy and can be worn as a boat neck or off one shoulder. It’s super comfy and comes in other colors.
The white tunic sweater is an oversized sweater; I’m wearing size small. you can front tuck it, untuck it or tuck in the front or back. I even wear this sweater by itself as a mini sweater dress too.
Purple cashmere sweater is from J. Crew years ago but still looks great. Here is a similar cashmere sweater from J. Crew and here is one from Nordstrom. I layered the sweater over this Amazon button down shirt.
Leopard print tunic sweater – I’m wearing in size small; I also wear this sweater alone with boots as a mini sweater dress. This sweater also comes in lots of colors.
SPANX Faux Leather Leggings FAQ’s
What Type of SPANX leggings should I buy?
I purchased a best seller, the classic faux leather leggings in black. Where better to start than a bestseller, right?! And I figured the classic black faux leather legging would pair with so much and I’d really get my use out of them. You can see all of their best selling leggings HERE.
What size faux leather leggings should I buy?
After reading the size guide and inseam length, I ordered them in small petite since I’m shorter and don’t like leggings bunching a lot at the bottom.
For reference, I’m around 120 lbs, 5’3″ and usually wear a size 2/4 or size XS/Small depending on the brand. For me they fit true to size using their size guide and have been very comfortable.
**NOTE** Per the SPANX website, they state that some people have found the faux leather leggings to run on the small side. Therefore, I would recommend that if you are between sizes, to go up one size. I found this to be true since I can sometimes wear an XS or a S – and the small fit perfectly.
So make sure to check the size guide. The leggings size guide on the SPANX website gives you sizing guideline and I’ve found them to be accurate.
How much do SPANX Faux Leather Leggings Cost?
SPANX faux leather leggings are definitely an investment. I know they aren’t the cheapest leggings in the world, but I think they are worth it because they’re gonna last you a while.
They range from $98 for the orignal faux leather to $128 for the faux patent leather leggings, but they often go on sale during holidays and popular shopping events.
They’re usually majorly marked down during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and several other times throughout the year, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I’ve even seen flash sales.
They are made well, comfortable and you can wear them with so many outfits. Whether you pay full price or snag them on sale, you’ll definitely get your money’s worth with these leggings!
How do I wash my Spanx Faux Leather Leggings?
The leggings come with care instructions for machine washing and how to dry them. I make sure to follow these specifics to keep my leggings looking as good as when I first got them. And years later, they honestly still look brand new. The stitching and quality have held up great.
Why did I buy SPANX faux leather leggings and not a cheaper knock-off?
Over the years, lots of less expensive versions of the SPANX faux leather leggings have come out.
- You had me at high-waisted. After having 2 children, my post baby belly needs all the support it can get. While I workout regularly too, my SPANX pieces (high waisted leggings in particular) are one of my post baby body wardrobe secrets. High waisted leggings are a mom BFF!
- I’ve been a big fan of the SPANX brand even before I had kids. I already owned several pieces of SPANX shapewear and swimwear. Not to mention they have great customer service and the cutest packaging!
- Seeing pics of SPANX faux leather leggings all over Instagram looking A-MAZE-ING, made me curious. I needed to see if they were worth all the buzz. Ladies, these leggings live up to all their hype! And after owning them for years now, I can honestly say they’re a favorite.
What I love about my SPANX faux leather leggings:
Spanx Faux Leather Leggings are a wardrobe staple. And here’s why:
- Perfect thickness: The leggings are thin but not flimsy. They feel like a second skin.
- Comfortable: It feels like the leggings give my legs a snug hug without being too tight. They can be worn comfortably all day (and night!)
- Versatile: Spanx faux leather leggings are the perfect mix of a leather-like look without being too shiny. They come in a variety of colors too. Therefore, they can be styled so many ways—from everyday casual to dressy.
What I’m not wild about:
- Not all leggings have the petite sizing option, although many styles have become available in petite and tall sizes in recent years. I like the shorter legging length that the petite size offers since I’m only 5’3″.
- SPANX leggings in petite can’t be found everywhere. Department stores often have limited inventory. This is why I purchased my leggings online.
Would I buy them again?
I recently bought a pair for my daughter now that there’s girls sizing too. And I’ve since added the faux leather moto leggings as well. They have a cool texture to them, but I sized up one size to a petite medium since there’s a seam that runs across the back of your knee. The leggings still fit just as well but was more comfortable across the back of my leg.
And don’t forget – you can try your leggings risk free since they offer free returns! That makes it so convenient when ordering online.
I hope you found it helpful seeing what and how to wear your faux leather leggings!
Which look is your favorite?!
Let me know if you have any questions!
