Simple Steak Salad
I’m taking a classic ‘steak & eggs’ breakfast idea and turning it into a salad perfect for lunch or dinner. This grilled steak salad recipe is packed full of protein and uses simple ingredients you probably already have in your fridge.
Check out the easy steak salad ingredients and recipe below!
Steak Salad Ingredients
- lettuce of your choice – I like romaine or iceberg
- measuring spoons
- cutting board
- knife for cutting lettuce & veggies
- pair of oven mitts
- 1-2 Tablespoons of grapeseed oil for browning steak
- 4-6 eggs (more or less depending how many people you are serving and # off eggs each
- egg cooker (optional but I love this one)
- salad spinner (optional but I use this one)
- pan to grill the steak that is oven safe ( I use a 12 inch stainless steel from All Clad)
- veggie chopper (optional but saves me a ton of time – this is the exact one I use)
- bowl or tray for marinating the steak
- pair of cooking tongs
- steak (I use a strip steak) – you may need more than one steak depending on guest size
- veggies for the salad – whatever you have on-hand like cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots & celery
- cutting board for the steak to rest and then carve when ready
Steak Salad Recipe
- Start by marinating your strip steak in a glass dish with Worcestershire sauce. I keep in fridge until I’m ready to cook (taking out of fridge about a 1/2 hour before ready to cook).
- When I’m ready to cook I use the egg cooker to hard boil my eggs first. (When they are done, I place them in an ice bath for 10 minutes before peeling.).
- While eggs are cooking pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees.
- Next place 1-2 tablespoons of oil (usually grape seed oil – though I used olive oil in the video) Turn heat onto medium heat then sear the steak on each side ( I do 2 minutes per side, then 1 minute per side.) before placing in oven to finish cooking for about 8 minutes. Then let steak rest on cutting board for 10 minutes before slicing.
- While the steak is in the oven and then resting, chop your veggies, and wash and chop your lettuce ( I like iceberg for this salad but used romaine here because that’s what I had)
Assemble your salad with the lettuce, veggies, chopped hard boiled eggs and sliced steak. I like to add salt + pepper and some homemade ranch dressing (I mix a ranch packet according to directions but sub yogurt for mayo)
Enjoy!

I also sometimes serve the kids steak and eggs separately without the salad and give them cut up bell peppers and cucumber or tomato for their vegetable.
